X-mas go away...

Looking around these couple of days I see the X-mas fever coming. And as I write this it is only 30th of november. I get the impression that the fever starts sooner every year. Trees and Santa's pop up at around every corner of the street. Before we know it we have christmas from October until February. I think that is a bad thing. Well if you think about christmas? What pops into your mind? Presents, christmas tree, family and eating lots of stuff, or are you thinking about peace on earth? That would be nice thinking about peace on earth for more than three months..

Well we dutch and the belgians have a solution. We split it up, well at least the presents stuff. We do not have 'Santa Claus' during X-mas, no we have Sinterklaas. So coca-cola invention Santa Claus get back to the northpole and return after december 6th. You are not welcome here .... yet. After that date we can think about christmas trees, delicious foo.... er.... peace on earth.

The pen is mightier than the mouse

Well some of you already know, but others don't. I am a nerd, I can't helped it. Would love to get rid of the status, but does not really help. Do nerds have a social life? Well yeah I have one. One is a yearly event: going with my fellow nerds to a dutch computer convention called HCC days. It is a dutch site so dont bother if you can't read dutch.

What are we nerds doing over there? Well just browsing the stands an if we see things of a good price we buy. Most of the times it are worthless things, like a Stuffed Tux for example. So here I am sitting with my freshly bought Wacon graphire 3 tablet. I have been using wacom tablets at my last job and I really love them. It really helps preventing RSI. When I sat at my desk at home, I caught myself sometimes grabbing to the tablet pen, which was not there. But now it is.

If you ever think about buying a tablet. Buy a Wacom. All the cheap tablets out there are terrible. They are not sensitive enough and the pens are heavy because of batteries (A wacom one doesnt have batteries) causing RSI instead of preventing it. I have to ask my new boss to buy me one at work I guess..

One drawback: playing games with it is a pain :-)

Orlando you wuss!

This post contains spoilers about LotR, Black Hawk Down and Troy

After building in my new speakers in my car this weekend. (Hmmm have to keep that one for another post) I thought it was time for a movie. So I went out and rented Troy again. I saw that movie in the cinema. And after I saw the scene where Paris was begging for his life, ... again, I had a flashback to a conversation I had with a friend. She was totally idolizing Orlando and (of course) loved Troy. So I asked her if she really preferred Orlando Bloom over Eric and Brad. I got a "duh?!" back as an answer.

So women prefer a wussie guy, who cries after a small cut in his leg, can surf on a shield over a staircase, is a wussie pirate wanna-be and gets himself in the hospital after missing a rope while jumping out of a helicopter. On the other hand, Brad had genious roles in Fightclub, Se7en and other awesome movies and Eric was the Hulk for Pete's sake! The fighting scene between Hector and Achilles is one of the best man to man fighting scene I have seen in the movies. Very well done.

I just don't get it. Orlando will always be a wuss to me. Maybe if he is given a role to play a wuss, he can win an Oscar for that :-)

"With so many friends you do not need enemies"

It appears those were words from the dutch film director and writer Theo van Gogh. Theo was brutally murdered in Amsterdam. He was shot and stabbed to death, because of a controversial short movie he made about muslim women.

Theo was well known in the Netherlands. I know him as a fat TV personality, Always smoking (he smokes 1 and a half to two packs a day preferably on TV) and known for statements others did not want to make.

Bloody annoying you cannot say anything what you want. Rest in peace Theo, you will be missed.
